private commissions

General

  • I retain the full copyright of the commissioned artwork.

  • I retain the right to upload the finished artwork in my portfolio and use it to promote my artwork.

  • I reserve the right to cancel and refund the commission for any reason at any time, for example, If the client fails to follow the terms provided or if I am not able to finish the artwork for some reason. I always have a valid reason for cancellation, and I try to avoid cancelling commissions.

  • When commissioning me you agree to all terms presented in the commission info and this terms of service.

Usage

You can use the commissioned artwork for personal, non-commercial purposes such as:

  • Print the artwork for your own personal purposes or as a gift, to hang it on your wall.

  • You can post & upload the artwork online to your social media page or any of your websites, giving proper credit to me as the artist.

  • If you post it online: always post a small, low-resolution image online to avoid art theft. Never post the unwatermarked version to online spaces, again to avoid theft.

  • You may use the finished commission as a reference for further commission done by other artists.

  • Social media posting is okay, as long as the usage is personal and you do not use the artwork to promote something you, for example, intend to sell or publish.

  • Non-commercial, private use only:

  • Private use means you are paying for the work & time of the artist (me), but not for the commercial usage rights/license. The copyright of the artwork itself remains with the artist who painted the original artwork. You still own your own character design, but not the copyrights to the painting.

  • This means that You can’t: Sell or license the artwork, use it for promoting or advertising purposes (social media marketing, for example), re-distribute, alter, claim the artwork your own or gain monetary profit off of the artwork.

Payment

Full payment in advance via Paypal/ international bank transfer (SEPA)If the commission rate is 500€ or over, for security and safety sake I always use an international bank transfer.If the order is over 700 € and up, 50-50 payment is possible: 50% upfront and 50% before I start the final rendering and detailing stage.

Refunds

  • No refunds on finished artwork

  • You can cancel and get a refund on a commission if I haven't started to work on it yet, but after that canceling isn't possible.

Kill fee

  • Refunding unfinished artworks in the (rare) case where I must refund and cancel, if, for example, the client fails to follow the terms of my TOS):

  • 50% out of the original rate. The other 50% will be the kill fee, for my time and work already committed to the commission.
